How One Family’s Love Created Lasting Support for Others

In Loving Memory of Reece Boston Joseph Williams

On 12th September 2024, Brogan Gorman and her partner welcomed their beautiful son, Reece Boston Joseph Williams, who was born sleeping. In the midst of unimaginable heartbreak, Brogan and Reece found strength in wanting to give something back to the hospital that cared for them.

Together with their family, friends, and community, they raised an incredible £4,750 in Reece’s memory. Their efforts have helped fund a new CuddleCot for the Eden Suite at Heartlands Hospital, donated on 8th October 2025, as well as £3,055 for the Heartlands Hospital Charity to continue supporting bereavement care.

A CuddleCot provides bereaved families with precious time to spend with their baby, helping them create memories that will last forever. For Brogan and Reece, knowing that other families will have that same time means more than words can express.

Brogan shared:

“We were inspired to do this for our beautiful son who was born sleeping, 12/09/2024. Reece Boston Joseph Williams.

Myself and Reece (Reece’s dad) wanted to give something back to the hospital. As you know the CuddleCot allows you to have time with your baby.

We did a fundraiser day at our local social club and raised the amount we did. We had a bouncy castle, face painter, hair braids and a good/desert van. We couldn’t have done this without our wonderful family and friends.

The extra funds will go to Eden suite to help supply with their needs ie, very small baby clothes etc.

I opened it this morning and cried instantly, nothing will ever take the pain away for us but it does help knowing we are helping other families who go through this terrible tragedy.”

Brogan’s close friend Eve also joined the fundraising efforts with an incredible skydive, helping to raise awareness and funds for both the CuddleCot and bereavement support at Heartlands Hospital.

Thanks to their determination and the generosity of their community, the Eden Suite now has a CuddleCot that will help families spend precious time with their baby, a gift of time and love that means so much.

Brogan’s act of giving in Reece’s memory is a beautiful reminder that from the deepest grief can come extraordinary compassion. Her family’s kindness ensures that others will have the chance to hold their babies close, to say goodbye in their own time, and to begin their healing with support and care.

‘While You Were Apart’ Words from those who cared for your baby

There are some questions that bereaved parents carry quietly for years.

Bringing Thea home was so important to us.

We were recently contacted by Katie, mum to Seb and Thea-Dottie who wanted to share the importance of the CuddleCot to their family and how it enabled them to take precious Thea-Dottie home where she belonged. Not every family is given this opportunity, sometimes due to another family using a device and lack of availability, or simply a and heartbreakingly a lack of awareness.

No family should experience what we did

Ezra’s mum, Lianne shares their journey with grief, their bereavement care experiences, and why they are dedicated to advocating for better standards of compassionate bereavement care for families.
