Fundraising for a CuddleCot: Emma and Graeme’s Story

Every CuddleCot donated because of a family’s fundraising has a story behind it.

For Emma and Graeme Paulley, their fundraising journey is rooted in the time they were able to spend with their beautiful daughter, Olivia.

Emma is walking 10,000 steps every day throughout September to raise money for a CuddleCot, which they hope to donate to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

For Emma and Graeme, the CuddleCot meant everything.

“We wouldn’t have got the extra week with Olivia without it, and that time was so special.”

That extra time gave Emma and Graeme the opportunity to make memories with their daughter that they will carry with them forever. They were even able to bring their beautiful princess home for a night, something they describe as “perfect”.

For families experiencing the death of a baby, having time together can be incredibly important. A CuddleCot can help provide families with the opportunity to spend longer with their baby, if they choose to, allowing them to hold them, talk to them, introduce them to loved ones, take photographs and simply be together.

For Emma, that is what she wants other families to understand.

“The extra time you get to spend with your baby.”

Now, Emma and Graeme are fundraising to help another family have access to those precious moments.

Throughout September, Emma is taking on the challenge of walking 10,000 steps every day, with friends and family supporting her through donations.

“We would like to thank all our friends and family who have donated.”

Their goal is to raise enough money to purchase a CuddleCot for the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, helping to make this choice available to other families who may need it.

Emma also has a message for other bereaved parents:

“Take full advantage of the CuddleCot and the beautiful memories with your babies.”

We are incredibly grateful to Emma and Graeme for sharing Olivia’s story with us and for turning their own experience into something that could help other families.

Their fundraising is more than a sponsored challenge. It is a way of honouring Olivia and helping other parents have the gift of time with their baby, if they choose it.

If you would like to support Emma’s 10,000 steps a day challenge and help raise funds for a CuddleCot at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, you can donate through their GoFundMe page.

Every donation helps bring them closer to their goal.

‘While You Were Apart’ Words from those who cared for your baby

There are some questions that bereaved parents carry quietly for years.

Bringing Thea home was so important to us.

We were recently contacted by Katie, mum to Seb and Thea-Dottie who wanted to share the importance of the CuddleCot to their family and how it enabled them to take precious Thea-Dottie home where she belonged. Not every family is given this opportunity, sometimes due to another family using a device and lack of availability, or simply a and heartbreakingly a lack of awareness.

No family should experience what we did

Ezra’s mum, Lianne shares their journey with grief, their bereavement care experiences, and why they are dedicated to advocating for better standards of compassionate bereavement care for families.
