The Réseau des Centres de ressources périnatales du Québec will present the work of the Perinatal Resources Centres (CRP in the French acronym) which provide tailored support through individual, family, and peer support groups, across Quebec. This support meets the specific needs of families by offering them a space for listening, sharing, and comfort.

This presentation will share the grassroots story of the Butterfly Support Network drawing attention to the ways support is provided throughout British Columbia and highlighting the advocacy work happening to ensure the highest standard of bereavement care exists in the province.

Examples of this work will be demonstrated by highlighting a project about pregnancy loss rates in BC, which aims to raise awareness about the need for more health services for pregnancy loss.

The podcast Stillbirth Happens – lets talk will also be highlighted as one example of support for bereaved parents that defies geographic barriers. The aim of this presentation will be, through examples of work in progress in British Columbia, to describe work that is being done to create and maintain a higher level of standardized bereavement care.

Karine Burelle

Founder, Fondation La Berceuse
Following the loss of three children, two of whom were at advanced stages of my pregnancy, I was able to see the importance of mourning and its impact on the rest of a life. Le Berceau is a way of giving families time to absorb, understand and experience the event that has just occurred. It is also a way of not leaving empty-handed, of creating some memories: calling them by their name, hugging them, taking a photo, holding a ceremony… Since there are as many ways to experience mourning as there are grieving families, I hope that the foundation can support them at all levels.
