Bringing Thea home was so important to us.

We were recently contacted by Katie, mum to Seb and Thea-Dottie who wanted to share the importance of the CuddleCot to their family and how it enabled them to take precious Thea-Dottie home where she belonged. Sadly, not every family is given this opportunity, sometimes due to another family using a device and lack of availability, or simply a lack of awareness amongst healthcare teams.

While this option isn’t right for every family, we believe that every family deserves to be given the opportunity to make a family-led and informed decision about their bereavement care, and the support they receive before, during and after loss.

On Wednesday 20th May 2026 at 23:23pm Katie gave birth to their perfect baby girl Thea Dottie Monaghan.

“This moment watching you take your first breaths will forever be etched in our mind. You fell to sleep peacefully on your daddy, oh how we wish we had you for longer, we prayed to hear your first cry. You have the most wonderful big brother who says he can’t wait to meet you in heaven 💔”

Written by Thea-Dottie’s Mum, Katie

We wanted to share just how much a CuddleCot has meant to our family.

After losing our daughter, Thea-Dottie we were able to bring her home thanks to a CuddleCot donated by another bereaved family. Their kindness gave us something we will be forever grateful for, and it’s one of the reasons we now feel so passionate about supporting other families.

Bringing Thea home was so important to us. We knew our time with her was limited and wanted the chance to make memories together as a family in the place where she belonged. In those precious hours, we were simply her mummy and daddy.

We held her, talked to her, played music, and her big brother was able to meet his baby sister at home. That time was a gift beyond words.

In the midst of unimaginable heartbreak, it gave us moments we would otherwise never have had and allowed us to say goodbye in our own way in the comfort of our home.

Thank you for the incredible work you do. We will always be grateful for what a CuddleCot made possible. Since losing Thea-Dottie, I have spoken to other people who either didn’t know CuddleCots existed, or their hospital didn’t have any which is incredibly sad.

Thank you Katie for sharing your story, and helping to raise awareness of this level of bereavement support. We wish no family needed a CuddleCot, but we hope that every family who needs one has access to this option if they wish to use it. Many hospitals plan for birth, but few plan for loss.
