CuddleBlanket. Giving grieving families the gift of time

The CuddleBlanket mortuary blanket provides grieving families an opportunity to spend time with their loved ones without having to cool the whole room.

Some families wish to spend time with their loved ones either at home or in the hospice, rather than at a funeral home. The portable CuddleBlanket can be used to turn any bed into a refrigerated bed and allows families to cool a deceased child or adult at home, thereby preserving their appearance, condition and dignity.

How the CuddleBlanket works

The CuddleBlanket utilises a thermoelectric cooling process rather than standard refrigeration.

The insulated cover consists of a small cooling unit that circulates fluid through a cooling pad that can simply be placed on top of the deceased, either in a bed or a cot.

Unlike refrigerated beds or coffin coolers, the CuddleBlanket is extremely light, portable, flexible and does not ice up.

Benefits of the CuddleBlanket

Provides families an opportunity to spend time with their loved ones without having to cool the whole room.

Set up in seconds and use anywhere, at home or in a hospice bedroom.

Lightweight and Portable – only weighing 11kg.

Lower running costs than traditional refrigeration as CuddleBlanket directly cools the deceased and is only switched on when required.

Low maintenance requirements as it utilises a thermoelectric cooling process.

We are humbled and grateful to Bob McGurrell, CEO of 4Louis, who recently came to PCH and donated a CuddleBlanket. The blanket has been created for use with older children, allowing families to spend special time with their child without the need to visit a mortuary or sit in a cold room. It is designed so that the child's favourite quilt cover can be laid over them, creating a comforting setting for the family.

The [CuddleBlanket] is compact and mobile and fortunately for us nurses really easy to put together! It absolutely did the job we purchased it for, was unobtrusive and allowed us to let relatives say a proper unhurried goodbye to their loved one. Great product.
