How to Fundraise for a CuddleCot or CuddleBlanket

CuddleCots and CuddleBlankets can be purchased directly by hospitals, hospices, funeral homes, community teams, or by families. While CuddleCot is not a charity, we work closely with charitable organisations around the world to help place CuddleCots where they are needed most.

Many bereaved families choose to honour their child’s memory by fundraising for a CuddleCot (for pre-term and full-term babies) or a CuddleBlanket (for children over the age of one). These gentle cooling devices give other families the gift of time with their child in hospital, hospice, or at home after a loss.

Families choose different approaches:

  • Raising funds toward a community pot held by a charity

  • Fundraising through a charity to donate a device in their child’s name

  • Purchasing a device directly from CuddleCot for donation

You don’t need to be a fundraising expert. Whether you’re sharing your story online or organising a small local event, every effort makes a meaningful difference.

Online platforms such as GoFundMe, MuchLoved, or JustGiving are commonly used to tell a family's story, raise awareness, and gather community support. (Please note that some fundraising platforms may charge a fee on donations.)

Some of the ways families choose to raise funds include:

Hosting a Memorial Event

Bring friends and family together to honour your child’s memory and raise funds at the same time:

  • Remembrance walks or fun runs

  • Candlelight vigils or garden gatherings

  • Charity sports matches or quiz nights

  • Coffee mornings or tea parties

Facebook Fundraisers for charities

You can raise funds directly through your Facebook page for organisations like 4Louis (UK) and Ashlie's Embrace (US). You can find some of the wonderful charities operating in your area here. Many families launch fundraisers on birthdays, anniversaries, or awareness days. 100% of donations go to the selected charity when using Facebook's fundraising tools.

Donations in Lieu of Flowers or Gifts

Some families ask for donations instead of flowers at a funeral, memorial, or special occasion. You can:

  • Include donation details in service programs or on remembrance cards

  • Share a link or QR code to a fundraising page

Partner with Local Businesses

Support often comes from local communities. Consider:

  • Asking shops or cafés to host a collection tin

  • Organising a raffle with donated prizes

School and Workplace Fundraisers

Colleagues, classmates, or local groups may want to help:

  • Bake sales or sponsored dress-down days

  • Fundraising raffles or charity lunches

Craft or Keepsake Sales

Many families create or sell items such as:

  • Handmade jewellery, candles, or memorial crafts

  • Printed T-shirts, mugs, or wristbands
These can be sold locally or online with profits donated toward a CuddleCot or CuddleBlanket.

Here are some of the steps to start a online CuddleCot fundraiser:

1. Visit  one of the popular online fundraising platforms

  • You’ll be prompted to create an account or log in.

  • You can choose “Medical” or “Memorial” as your fundraiser category.

2. Set a fundraising goal

  • The cost of a CuddleCot varies slightly by country, shipping, and accessories.

  • For pricing please contact info@cuddlecot.com

3. Share your story

  • Introduce your baby and your reason for wanting to donate a CuddleCot.

  • Give a brief overview of the purpose and benefits of a CuddleCot. You can find information here.
  • Be honest, heartfelt, and clear. People connect with personal stories, but remember to prioritise your own well being and don't feel obliged to share any details you don't want to.

You can use language like:
“We are raising funds to donate a CuddleCot in loving memory of our baby, [(Name), to give other families the precious gift of time to create memories as a family.”

“Nothing prepares you for baby loss. The CuddleCot gave us time to hold our baby, create memories, and begin to grieve at our own pace. We are fundraising to give that experience to other families.”

“We lost our baby [Name] at [X] weeks. This fundraiser is a way to honour their life and provide comfort to others by donating a CuddleCot where it’s needed most.”

“Every family deserves time to say goodbye. In [Name]’s memory, we are raising funds to donate a CuddleCot and help others going through the heartbreak of baby loss.”

“Instead of flowers or gifts, we are asking for support in donating a CuddleCot that will go to a hospital or hospice in need. We want [Name]’s life to leave a lasting legacy of love.”

4. Add a photo

  • A meaningful photo can help people connect with your story.

  • Many families choose to use a photo of their baby, their family, or a symbolic image.

5. Explain where the CuddleCot will go

  • Will it be donated to a specific hospital, hospice, or bereavement service?

  • If you don’t have a location in mind yet, we can help you identify where the need is greatest.

6. Launch and share your fundraiser

  • Share your fundraiser on social media, through WhatsApp, via email, or within support groups.

  • Many families find it helpful to ask a close friend or family member to help with sharing and updates.

7. Keep supporters updated

  • Let people know how the fundraiser is progressing.

  • Share milestones such as “We’re halfway there!” or “We’ve ordered the CuddleCot!”

8. Place your CuddleCot order

  • Once your target is reached, contact our team at info@cuddlecot.com or use our contact form to arrange your donation.

  • We can ship directly to the chosen location, and if you’d like, we can include a plaque or message in memory of your baby.

  • Some families prefer to deliver the CuddleCot themselves to the chosen facility, and devices can be shipped to home addresses too.

9. Celebrate your baby’s legacy

  • Once the CuddleCot is delivered, you may want to share a photo or message with your supporters.

  • Many families find comfort in knowing their baby's name and story will help others in similar heartbreak, and continue to raise funds each birthday.
