CuddleCot helps the mum of a premature baby girl who died at five days old

A mum whose premature baby died at just five days old is fundraising for a CuddleCot so other parents in her position can spend time with their babies after they pass away.
Sophie Meese gave birth to her daughter Emilia Grace Phillips when she was 28 weeks pregnant due to a bicornuate uterus – a uterus that is shaped irregularly.

Little Emilia was taken to the neonatal intensive care unit after her birth on January 25, 2017, at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital and Sophie was told her daughter had brain damage. The family spent five days with Emilia before she took her last breaths in Sophie’s arms.
“We spent between 24 and 36 hours in the room making memories, trying to bond as much as we could and trying to make us feel like a bit of a family unit. You can even take babies home with a CuddleCot if you want to.”
Now Sophie and her brother Alex Martin will be taking on Shropshire Mud Run on Saturday, November 12 2022, to raise funds for a CuddleCot at New Cross Hospital in memory of Emilia.
