SB32 Angel’s law Louisiana
In February 2026, lawmakers in Louisiana introduced Senate Bill 32 (SB 32), a proposed law that would establish a statewide Perinatal Bereavement Care Initiative within the Louisiana Department of Health.
The bill would provide hospitals that deliver maternity care with:
1. Staff Bereavement Care Training
2. Perinatal Bereavement Cooling Devices Like The CuddleCot
3. Family Support Resources
Our thanks to Bereavement Nurse Kristi Lamarque Bordelon, MSN, RNC, for her leadership in driving meaningful change for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss in Louisiana.
Kristi is part of the Heidi Saint James team, which is advocating for improved bereavement care standards through proposed state legislation known as Angel’s Law.
Heidi’s parents were able to spend precious time with their daughter using a CuddleCot, made possible through a donation from Louisiana-based nonprofit Rain-Bowie foundation
Heidi’s mother, Jamie, shares her powerful story and the importance of compassionate hospital bereavement care in her blog post:“She Was Alive When I Was Pushing.” (www.heidisaintjames.com/post/she-was-alive-when-i-was-pushing)
