💙 Dads Supporting Dads, Through Sport and Shared Strength 💙

Through the love of sport, FC Vilomah brings dads together to support one another and the wider baby loss community. Whether your loss is recent or from years ago, FC Vilomah is here to walk this journey with you.

The club’s name, Vilomah, comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “against the natural order.” It beautifully captures the heartbreak of losing a child—something no parent should have to endure.

At FC Vilomah, it’s more than football. It’s about:

⚽ Building a community of support.

🤝 Standing with families through grief.

💙 Honouring the memory of every child.

Can you share the story behind the founding of your charity and what inspired you to create it?

In 2019 me and my wife sadly suffered the loss of our daughter Jessica. Whilst we have both found support hard to come by I couldn’t find anything for myself at all. Another charity had seen various dads in similar situations create football teams to give local bereaved dads a place to find support through sport. What started as a 1 off charity match has now led to 5 years later having support over 60 different families. Last year we wanted to do more, Vilomah Baby Loss Charity was created, the charity will support families after their loss with not a memory box but a box designed to help them through the early days and however long they feel the need to use it. We are also currently looking at how we can support parents financially through having to lay their baby to rest.

What are the core missions and goals of your organisation in supporting bereaved families?

Sadly we cannot change what has happened but we can support parents and the wider family with ideas and support on how to handle the grief they will experience and channel their thoughts and emotions in trying to find their way through it to some form of normality.

What specific support do you provide for siblings, grandparents, dads, and the extended family who are also affected by the loss?

The football club supports dads and the extended family with weekly football meets, social gatherings and events throughout the year. We also have a golf society that organises 2 trips a year.

How do you ensure that your support services are accessible and effective for all bereaved parents?

This is currently in progress, we are waiting on our first batch of boxes which will be distributed to hospitals, counselling groups and other means.

How can individuals and communities get involved in supporting your charity and its mission?

We hold various fundraising events through the year. Next year we also have 5 charity runners in the London landmarks half marathon.

‘While You Were Apart’ Words from those who cared for your baby

There are some questions that bereaved parents carry quietly for years.

Bringing Thea home was so important to us.

We were recently contacted by Katie, mum to Seb and Thea-Dottie who wanted to share the importance of the CuddleCot to their family and how it enabled them to take precious Thea-Dottie home where she belonged. Not every family is given this opportunity, sometimes due to another family using a device and lack of availability, or simply a and heartbreakingly a lack of awareness.

No family should experience what we did

Ezra’s mum, Lianne shares their journey with grief, their bereavement care experiences, and why they are dedicated to advocating for better standards of compassionate bereavement care for families.
